SHORT TITLE. 3 This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Fire Grants and Safety 4 Act of 2023’’. 5 SEC. 2. REAUTHORIZATION OF THE UNITED STATES FIRE 6 ADMINISTRATION. 7 Section 17(g)(1) of the Federal Fire Prevention and 8 Control Act of 1974 (15 U.S.C. 2216(g)(1)) is amended— 9 (1) in subparagraph (L), by striking ‘‘and’’ 10 after the semicolon; 11 (2) in subparagraph (M)— 12 (A) by striking ‘‘for for’’ and inserting 13 ‘‘for’’; and 14 (B) by striking the period and inserting ‘‘; 15 and’’; and 16 (3) by adding at the end the following new 17 subparagraraph: 18 ‘‘(N) $95,000,000 for each of fiscal years 19 2024 through 2028, of which $3,420,000 for 20 each such fiscal year shall be used to carry out 21 section 8(f).’’. 22 VerDate Sep 11 2014 00:26 Sep 02, 2023 Jkt 039200 PO 00000 Frm 00003 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H4090.RH H4090 pbinns on DSKJLVW7X2PROD with $$_JOB 4 •HR 4090 RH SEC. 3. REAUTHORIZATION OF ASSISTANCE TO FIRE- 1 FIGHTERS GRANTS PROGRAM AND THE FIRE 2 PREVENTION AND SAFETY GRANTS PRO- 3 GRAM. 4 (a) SUNSET.—Section 33(r) of the Federal Fire Pre- 5 vention and Control Act of 1974 (15 U.S.C. 2229(r)) is 6 amended by striking ‘‘2024’’ and inserting ‘‘2030’’. 7 (b) AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS.—Section 8 33(q)(1) of the Federal Fire Prevention and Control Act 9 of 1974 (15 U.S.C. 2229(q)(1)) is amended by striking 10 ‘‘to carry out this section—’’ and all that follows through 11 ‘‘the fiscal year described in clause (i)’’ and inserting ‘‘to 12 carry out this section $750,000,000 for each of fiscal 13 years 2024 through 2028’’. 14 SEC. 4. REAUTHORIZATION OF STAFFING FOR ADEQUATE 15 FIRE AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE GRANT 16 PROGRAM. 17 (a) SUNSET.—Section 34(k) of the Federal Fire Pre- 18 vention and Control Act of 1974 (15 U.S.C. 2229a(k)) 19 is amended by striking ‘‘2024’’ and inserting ‘‘2030’’. 20 (b) AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS.—Section 21 34(j)(1) of the Federal Fire Prevention and Control Act 22 of 1974 (15 U.S.C. 2229a(j)(1)(I)) is amended— 23 (1) in subparagraph (G), by inserting ‘‘and’’ 24 after the semicolon; 25 VerDate Sep 11 2014 00:26 Sep 02, 2023 Jkt 039200 PO 00000 Frm 00004 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H4090.RH H4090 pbinns on DSKJLVW7X2PROD with $$_JOB 5 •HR 4090 RH (2) in subparagraph (H), by striking ‘‘fiscal 1 year 2013; and’’ and inserting ‘‘each of fiscal years 2 2024 through 2028.’’; and 3 (3) by striking subparagraph (I). 4 SEC. 5.
