Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa- 1 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2 SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3 This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Iranian Enrichment 4 Monitoring Act of 2023’’. 5 SEC. 2. NOTIFICATION TO CONGRESS. 5 (a) IN GENERAL.—Not later than 48 hours after the 6 Director of National Intelligence determines that the Is- 7 lamic Republic of Iran has produced or possesses any 8 amount of uranium-235 enriched to greater than 60 per- 9 cent purity, the Director of National Intelligence shall sub- 10 mit to the appropriate congressional committees and con- 11 gressional leadership a notification of such determination. 12 (b) CLASSIFIED NOTICE TO MEMBERS OF CON- 13 GRESS.—Not later than 24 hours after the submission of 14 the notification under subsection (a), the Director of Na- 15 tional Intelligence shall submit to Congress a 1-page docu- 16 ment with respect to the determination, which shall be— 17 (1) made available to any member of the Senate 18 or the House of Representatives; and 19 (2) classified at the Top Secret/Sensitive Com- 20 partmented Information level. 21 (c) SUBSEQUENT NOTIFICATIONS.—If the Director 22 of National Intelligence determines that the Islamic Re- 23 public of Iran has engaged in significant enrichment activ- 24 ity subsequent to the submission of a notification under 25 VerDate Sep 11 2014 05:27 Jul 07, 2023 Jkt 039200 PO 00000 Frm 00003 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\S1981.IS S1981 pbinns on DSKJLVW7X2PROD with $$_JOB 4 •S 1981 IS subsection (a), the Director of National Intelligence shall 1 submit to the appropriate congressional committees and 2 congressional leadership— 3 (1) not later than 48 hours after making a de- 4 termination that such significant enrichment activity 5 has occurred, a notification of the determination; 6 and 7 (2) not later than 24 hours after the submis- 8 sion of the notification under paragraph (1), a 1- 9 page document with respect to the determination. 10 Æ VerDate Sep 11 2014 05:27 Jul 07, 2023 Jkt 039200 PO 00000 Frm 00004 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6301 E:\BILLS\S1981.IS S1981 pbinns on DSKJLVW7X2PROD with $$_JOB
