To modify the method for calculating the basic allowance
for housing to more accurately assess the housing costs
of junior members of the uniformed services.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Junior Enlisted Hous-

ing Affordability Act of 2023’’.

JUNIOR MEMBERS OF UNIFORMED SERVICES.

Section 403(b)(5) of title 37, United States Code, is

amended, in the second sentence, by striking ‘‘and shall
6
be based on the following:’’ and all that follows through
7
‘‘determined in subparagraph (A)’’.
