Mr. FETTERMAN (for himself and Ms. SMITH) introduced the following bill;
which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Agriculture, Nu-
trition, and Forestry
A BILL
To require training for State and regional employees of the
Department of Agriculture on the rural housing and
development programs of the Department.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. REQUIRED TRAINING OF DEPARTMENT OF AG-
3
RICULTURE EMPLOYEES ON RURAL HOUSING
4
AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS.
5
The Secretary of Agriculture shall ensure that the
6
training of regional and State employees of the Depart-
7
ment of Agriculture who are classified as national staff
8
and work on multifamily housing includes comprehensive
9

education about rural housing and development programs

of the Department, including—
2
(1) the utilization of multiple programs of the
3
Department by 1 project, particularly by mixed-use
4
developments;
5
(2) single and multifamily loan and grant pro-
6
grams of the Department;
7
(3) loan assistance available under section 514
8
and 516 of the Housing Act of 1949 (42 U.S.C.
9
1484, 1486), including renewal of loans and rental
10
assistance, loan restructuring, and decoupling of
11
rental assistance;
12
(4) technical assistance providers, including
13
nonprofit organizations and public housing agencies,
14
in the region; and
15
(5) information on other related Federal grant
16
and loan programs, including the HOME Invest-
17
ments Partnerships Program under subtitle A of
18
title II of the Cranston-Gonzalez National Afford-
19
able Housing Act (42 U.S.C. 12741 et seq.), the
20
community development block grant program under
21
title I of the Housing and Community Development
22
Act of 1974 (42 U.S.C. 5301 et seq.), and the low-
