Ms. GREENE of Georgia submitted the following resolution; which was referred
to the Committee on Rules
RESOLUTION
Authorizing and directing the Committee on the Judiciary
to investigate whether sufficient grounds exist for the
impeachment
of
Secretary
of
Homeland
Security
Alejandro Mayorkas.
Resolved, That the Committee on the Judiciary, act-

ing as a whole or by any subcommittee thereof appointed
2
by the chairman for the purposes hereof and in accordance
3
with the rules of the committee, is authorized and directed
4
to investigate fully and completely whether sufficient
5
grounds exist for the House of Representatives to exercise
6
its constitutional power to impeach Secretary of Homeland
7
Security Alejandro Mayorkas. The committee shall report

to the House of Representatives such resolutions, articles
1
of impeachment, or other recommendations as it deems
2
proper.

SEC. 2. (a) For the purpose of making such investiga-
4
tion, the committee is authorized to require—
5
(1) by subpoena or otherwise—
6
(A) the attendance and testimony of any person
7
(including at a taking of a deposition by counsel for
8
the committee); and
9
(B) the production of such things; and
10
(2) by interrogatory, the furnishing of such informa-
11
tion; as it deems necessary to such investigation.

(b) Such authority of the committee may be exer-
13
cised—
14
(1) by the chairman and the ranking minority mem-
15
ber acting jointly, or, if either declines to act, by the other
16
acting alone, except that in the event either so declines,
17
either shall have the right to refer to the committee for
18
decision the question whether such authority shall be so
19
exercised and the committee shall be convened promptly
20
to render that decision; or
21
(2) by the committee acting as a whole or by sub-
22
committee.

Subpoenas and interrogatories so authorized may be
24
issued over the signature of the chairman, or ranking mi-

nority member, or any member designated by either of
1
them, and may be served by any person designated by the
2
chairman, or ranking minority member, or any member
3
designated by either of them. The chairman, or ranking
4
minority member, or any member designated by either of
5
them (or, with respect to any deposition, answer to inter-
6
rogatory, or affidavit, any person authorized by law to ad-
7
minister oaths) may administer oaths to any witness. For
8
the purposes of this section, ‘‘things’’ includes, without
9
limitation, books, records, correspondence, logs, journals,
10
memorandums, papers, documents, writings, drawings,
11
graphs, charts, photographs, reproductions, recordings,
12
tapes, transcripts, printouts, data compilations from which
13
information can be obtained (translated if necessary,
14
through detection devices into reasonably usable form),
15
tangible objects, and other things of any kind.
