To amend title 49, United States Code, to provide housing
for students enrolled in an accredited avionic program.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Avionic Students
4
Housing Act.’’
5
SEC. 2. AVIONIC STUDENT HOUSING.
6
(a) IN GENERAL.—Chapter 401 of title 49, United
7
States Code, is amended by adding at the end the fol-
8
lowing:

‘‘§ 40131. Avionic student housing at airports

‘‘(a) HOUSING.—An airport, airport authority, air-
2
port sponsor, school or other airport operator may provide
3
housing for students enrolled in an accredited avionic pro-
4
gram, on the non-aeronautical area grounds of an airport.
5
Such housing may be for a term of 12 months, renewable
6
to a total duration of the lesser of—
7
‘‘(1) 36 months; or
8
‘‘(2) completion of the avionic program.

‘‘(b) AVIONIC PROGRAM DEFINED.—In this section,
10
the term ‘avionic program’ means a program leading to
11
a degree, certification or qualifications for a career as a
12
pilot, mechanic, air traffic controller, airline support per-
13
sonnel, or other avionics-related field.’’.

(b) CLERICAL AMENDMENT.—The analysis for chap-
15
ter 401 of title 49, United States Code, is amended by
16
adding at the end the following:

‘‘40131. Avionic student housing at airports.’’.
