      By: West S.B. No. 1919     (Canales)           A BILL TO BE ENTITLED   AN ACT   relating to the authority of the Texas Department of Transportation   to settle certain claims.          BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:          SECTION 1.  Section 201.106(b), Transportation Code, is   amended to read as follows:          (b)  The department may settle a claim described by   Subsection (a) if:                (1)  the department may be liable under Chapter 101,   Civil Practice and Remedies Code;                (2)  the director determines that a settlement is in   the best interest of the department; and                (3)  the department's liability under the terms of the   settlement is less than $100,000 [ $10,000 ].          SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
