which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary
RESOLUTION
Expressing support for the designation of the week of May
7, 2023, through May 13, 2023, as ‘‘National Correc-
tional Officers Week’’.
Whereas the operation of correctional facilities represents a
critical component of the criminal justice system of the
United States;
Whereas correctional officers play an important role in pro-
tecting the right of the public to be safeguarded from
criminal activity, as with law enforcement officers;
Whereas correctional officers are responsible for the care,
custody, and dignity of the inmates charged to their care;

Whereas correctional officers work under demanding cir-
cumstances and face danger and violence in their daily
work lives; and
Whereas the first week of May is recognized as ‘‘National
Correctional Officers Week’’: Now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the House of Representatives—

(1) supports the goals and ideals of ‘‘National

Correctional Officers Week’’; and
3
(2) honors all correctional officers for their
4
service to their communities and States, and to the
5
Nation.
