      H.R. No. 1470       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Dr. Pastor Alvarado of Brownsville is retiring in   2025, following a career spanning more than four decades as a colon   and rectal surgeon; and          WHEREAS, A trailblazer in his specialty in the Rio Grande   Valley, Dr. Alvarado is known for his expertise in upper and lower   endoscopies and anorectal surgery and for his skill in advanced   medical technology; he is a fellow of the Texas Society of Colon and   Rectal Surgeons and a longtime member of the American Society of   Colon and Rectal Surgeons; and          WHEREAS, Dr. Alvarado has given generously of his time and   expertise in numerous leadership roles, among them chief of   surgery, chief of medical staff, and member of safety and peer   review committees; he served as president of the county medical   society, and he was the county medical delegate to the Texas Medical   Association for over 15 years; in addition, he has been active in   Physicians Against Lawsuit Abuse and Citizens Against Lawsuit   Abuse; and          WHEREAS, A graduate of Colegio San Agustin and the University   of Panama Medical School, Dr. Alvarado interned in the Panamanian   Social Security Hospital Systems and went on to a residency at   Gorgas Hospital; he completed his residency in colon and rectal   surgery at Baylor University Medical Center in 1982; later that   year, he began his noteworthy tenure in private practice at Upper   Valley Hemorrhoid Clinic; and          WHEREAS, Pastor Alvarado's skill, dedication, and commitment   to excellence have greatly benefited countless patients in the Rio   Grande Valley, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well   spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; now,   therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Pastor Alvarado on his   retirement and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future;   and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for Dr. Alvarado as an expression of high regard by the   Texas House of Representatives.     Gámez     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
