      H.R. No. 1444       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Round Rock Ballet Folklórico celebrated the 10th   anniversary of its Día de Los Muertos performances in 2024, and this   occasion provides a welcome opportunity to honor this respected   arts group; and          WHEREAS, El Día de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, is a   traditional Mexican holiday observed November 1 and 2; a blend of   Mesoamerican ritual, European religion, and Spanish culture, the   holiday has roots that go back 3,000 years, to the ancient cultures   of the Aztecs and other peoples of pre-Columbian America; it is a   time to recognize death as a natural part of the cycle of life, and   festivities often include facial makeup, costumes, and revelry; and          WHEREAS, In 1988, Yolanda Sanchez founded Round Rock Ballet   Folklórico to provide the community with the opportunity to both   learn about Mexican culture and grow through the practice of dance;   over the course of three and a half decades, the group has come to   encompass more than 100 members from a wide range of backgrounds;   and          WHEREAS, Each year, Round Rock Ballet Folklórico partners   with the Williamson County Hispanic Heritage Committee, the City of   Round Rock, and Univision to honor Día de los Muertos with a   procession and festival; members of the group perform traditional   dances at the event, which also features live music, arts and   crafts, and an altar decoration contest; and          WHEREAS, Round Rock Ballet Folklórico greatly enhances the   vibrant cultural life of Central Texas, and it is indeed deserving   of recognition for its contributions; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Día de   Los Muertos performances by Round Rock Ballet Folklórico and extend   to the organization's members sincere best wishes for the future;   and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas   House of Representatives.     Bucy     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
