HR1359 - Congratulating Brandi Spieth of San Antonio on graduating as a member of the Texas Partners in Policymaking Class of 2025.

      H.R. No. 1359       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Brandi Spieth of San Antonio has distinguished   herself as a member of the Texas Partners in Policymaking Class of   2025; and          WHEREAS, Organized by the Texas Council for Developmental   Disabilities, Texas Partners in Policymaking is a leadership   training program designed to empower adults with developmental   disabilities and their families as advocates for policy change;   over the course of seven months, participants learn about   disability history, systems, and policy while meeting with a   variety of subject matter experts; many graduates have gone on to   serve on various boards, councils, task forces, and advisory   committees, and some have run for public office; and          WHEREAS, A mother of four children, three of whom have   disabilities, Mrs. Spieth first became involved in advocacy after   recognizing the challenges that her own children, as well as her   patients and students, faced due to their disabilities; she focused   her capstone project, Project ABLE, on identifying medical   providers and practices that have experience, knowledge, and   training with the intellectual and developmental disability   population and on developing a social media page highlighting   various educational opportunities and resources; and          WHEREAS, Mrs. Spieth is a pediatric speech language   pathologist with 22 years of experience and a certified lactation   consultant, and she has worked with children with disabilities in a   school setting, via home health, and in a hospital setting as a   rehabilitation therapist; she currently works in a local children's   hospital; and          WHEREAS, By taking part in the Texas Partners in Policymaking   program, Brandi Spieth has developed the knowledge and skills   necessary to effect positive change in her community and beyond,   and it is a pleasure to join in recognizing her for this notable   accomplishment; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby congratulate Brandi Spieth on graduating as a   member of the Texas Partners in Policymaking Class of 2025 and   extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for Mrs. Spieth as an expression of high regard by the   Texas House of Representatives.     Bernal     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
