HR1303 - In memory of Maria Teresa Flores Cavazos of Monterrey, Mexico.

      H.R. No. 1303       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the   passing of Maria Teresa Flores Cavazos of Monterrey, Mexico, on   May 9, 2025, at the age of 83; and          WHEREAS, The daughter of Francisco J. Flores Sr. and Maria   Ernestina Saldaña Flores, the former Maria Teresa Flores was born   in Laredo on March 14, 1942, and she grew up as the oldest of nine   siblings; after attending Ursuline Academy, she became the first   college graduate in her family, earning her bachelor's degree in   mathematics from Incarnate Word College; she went on to teach math   and science at Ursuline Academy, Laredo Junior College, and Laredo   Martin High School; and          WHEREAS, She married the love of her life, Jesus Cavazos, on   September 23, 1966, and their union was blessed with four children,   Jesus, Maria Teresa, Leticia, and Patricia, and four grandchildren;   known to many as "Mary T" or "Tita," she was also devoted to her   large extended family; after adopting Monterrey, Mexico, as her   home, she quickly added to her circle of friends; she was a talented   chef, baker, and hostess who enjoyed entertaining, as well as   painting, gardening, floral arranging, decorating, and   dressmaking; sustained by a strong faith, she helped establish her   church, Nuestra Señora Reina de Los Angeles; she served as a   Eucharistic minister and lector and engaged in countless good   works, and she was a member of the Apostleship of the Cross and   Alliance of Love; moreover, she supported the civic endeavors of   the Garden and Rotary Clubs of Monterrey; and          WHEREAS, Although she will be deeply missed, the passage of   time will never diminish the joy and love that Maria Teresa Flores   Cavazos brought into the lives of all who knew her; now, therefore,   be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Maria Teresa Flores   Cavazos and extend sincere condolences to the members of her   family: to her husband, Jesus Guadalupe Cavazos Fernandez; to her   children, Jesus G. Cavazos Jr. and his wife, Fabiola Silva Drexel,   Maria Teresa Cavazos Flores, Leticia del Carmen Cavazos Flores, and   Patricia Isabel Cavazos Flores; to her grandchildren, Natalia   Cavazos Silva, Zoe Cavazos Silva, Viviana Garza Cavazos, and Cesar   Garza Cavazos; to her siblings, Jose Fernando Flores and his wife,   Elsa Maldonado Flores, Miguel Ignacio Flores and his wife, Barbara   Betts Flores, Maria Ernestina "Tina" Flores Jackson, Maria Angela   Flores Beck, Adela Isabel Flores, and State Representative Maria   Luisa "Lulu" Flores and her husband, Scott M. Hendler; and to her   many other relatives and friends; and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of   Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Maria   Teresa Flores Cavazos.     Flores     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
