HR1265 - In memory of Patsy Ruth Spackey of The Woodlands.

      H.R. No. 1265       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Residents of The Woodlands lost an admired community   leader with the passing of Patsy Ruth Spackey on November 9, 2024,   at the age of 82; and          WHEREAS, Born in Dallas on April 13, 1942, the former Pat   Ellen was the daughter of Rosa and Fred Ellen; she met her future   husband, Ted, during her senior year at Douglas MacArthur High   School in San Antonio, and the pair exchanged wedding vows in 1961;   they shared a rewarding union that spanned 63 years, during which   time they lovingly raised three children, Sheryl, Christy, and   Steven Ted, and welcomed nine grandchildren and three   great-grandchildren into their family; and          WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Spackey and their children resided in   several cities before settling in Dallas; the couple were valued   congregants of Prestonwood Baptist Church, where Mrs. Spackey   served as a receptionist, ministry volunteer, and photographer; she   later parlayed her skills into a career as a wedding photographer;   after she and her husband relocated to The Woodlands, they joined   The Church at Alden Bridge, and she benefited her congregation as a   photographer and head of the welcome committee; and          WHEREAS, Mrs. Spackey held a special affinity for her adopted   home of Montgomery County, the birthplace of the Texas flag, owing   to her heritage as a descendant of the flag's designer, Charles B.   Stewart; an avid historian, she was a member of the Montgomery   Historical Society and other groups, and she also generously served   in several leadership roles for the Heritage Trails Chapter of the   National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, the   Daughters of the Republic of Texas, the United States Daughters of   1812, and other societies; moreover, she took great pride in being a   member of the Descendants of the Signers of the Texas Declaration of   Independence and served on the group's organizing committee; and          WHEREAS, In addition, Mrs. Spackey was actively involved in   Montgomery County Republican Women and The Woodlands Republican   Women; she was honored with numerous accolades for her volunteer   efforts, including the Tribute to Women Award from the Texas   Federation of Republican Women in 2018; and          WHEREAS, The passing of Mrs. Spackey is being mourned by   individuals throughout the state, and her legacy was honored by   Governor Greg Abbott and First Lady Cecilia Abbott with a heartfelt   letter of condolences; and          WHEREAS, Admired for her devotion to her family, her faith,   and her community, Pat Spackey enriched the lives of all who were   fortunate enough to know her, and they will forever hold her close   in their hearts; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Patsy Ruth Spackey   and extend deepest sympathy to all those who mourn her passing; and,   be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of   Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Pat   Spackey.     Toth     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
