      H.R. No. 1241       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, The Wes-Mer Drive-In Theatre in Mercedes is   celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2025; and          WHEREAS, On July 6, 1950, Wes-Mer opened as a single screen   drive-in theater with a 430-car capacity, and its first featured   film was the romantic comedy Everybody Does It ; through the   decades, the business has persisted through such challenges as   natural disasters, writers' strikes, and the COVID-19 pandemic to   remain standing as one of an estimated 250 drive-in theaters still   operating in the United States; and          WHEREAS, Each evening, Wes-Mer presents two feature films   using digital projection and sound broadcasted via FM radio; the   theater also offers its patrons a variety of concessions; and          WHEREAS, For three quarters of a century, the Wes-Mer   Drive-In Theatre has served the Rio Grande Valley as a family   entertainment destination, and it is a pleasure to join in   recognizing the business on this milestone occasion; now,   therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Wes-Mer   Drive-In Theatre and extend to all those associated with the   business sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for the theater as an expression of high regard by the   Texas House of Representatives.     Muñoz     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
