      H.R. No. 1178       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Sofia Diaz of Americas High School in the Socorro   Independent School District has distinguished herself in her   responsibilities as a legislative intern in the office of State   Representative Mary E. González; and          WHEREAS, Over the course of her internship, Ms. Diaz has   provided vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging   tasks, including tracking and analyzing local and international   news and helping to draft policy resolutions and memos; in addition   to gaining valuable experience in the field of public service, she   has learned more about the legislative process and the issues   facing citizens of the Lone Star State; and          WHEREAS, Ms. Diaz is a member of the Libertas Academy at   Americas High, through which she has developed a strong academic   foundation in law, public policy, and government and has earned   certificates in principles of law, legal research and writing, and   court systems; she has further distinguished herself by   participating in such extracurricular activities as student   council, flag line, varsity swim, and varsity cheer, and she made   history by becoming the school's first female mascot; and          WHEREAS, Passionate about education, Ms. Diaz took part in a   co-teaching internship at Vista del Sol Elementary School and is an   active member of the Texas Association of Future Educators, where   she helped create a bilingual children's book that highlights the   journey of a young student overcoming language barriers; she is   also dedicated to community service and has volunteered more than   150 hours, helping uplift vulnerable populations with   organizations such as the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank and   the El Paso Villa Maria women's shelter; and          WHEREAS, Sofia Diaz has performed her duties as a legislative   intern with skill and dedication, and she is indeed deserving of   special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby commend Sofia Diaz for her service as a   legislative intern in the office of State Representative   Mary E. González and extend to her sincere best wishes for   continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for Ms. Diaz as an expression of high regard by the Texas   House of Representatives.     González of El Paso     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
