      H.R. No. 1174       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Luis Soto of Americas High School in the Socorro   Independent School District has distinguished himself in his   responsibilities as a legislative intern in the office of State   Representative Mary E. González; and          WHEREAS, Over the course of his internship, Mr. Soto has   provided vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging   tasks, including helping draft resolutions and memos and analyzing   local and global news; in addition to gaining valuable experience   in the field of public service, he has learned more about the   legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star   State; and          WHEREAS, A senior at Americas High School, Mr. Soto is a   member of the Libertas Academy program for students interested in   law, government, and public administration, and he also serves as   captain of the cheer and flags teams; he has taken courses in   principles of law, legal research and writing, and criminal law   systems, among others, and he has completed more than 30 college   credit hours and is currently enrolled in three AP classes; engaged   in the community, he has served on Congresswoman Veronica Escobar's   Congressional Youth Advisory Council, and he has volunteered with   El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank and the El Paso Villa Maria   transitional women's shelter; and          WHEREAS, Luis Soto has performed his duties as a legislative   intern with skill and dedication, and he is indeed deserving of   special recognition for his fine work; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby commend Luis Soto for his service as a   legislative intern in the office of State Representative   Mary E. González and extend to him sincere best wishes for   continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for Mr. Soto as an expression of high regard by the Texas   House of Representatives.     González of El Paso     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
