      H.R. No. 1156       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Diego Romero of Americas High School in El Paso   distinguished himself with his outstanding performances during the   2024 cross country season; and          WHEREAS, A senior at Americas High, Mr. Romero dominated the   field at the District 2-5A cross country meet; triumphing in   impressive fashion, he clocked in at 16 minutes, 29.6 seconds, to   finish nearly two seconds ahead of his closest foe and clinch the   gold medal; he went on to excel at regionals, posting a time of   15:47.1 to win his race and punch his ticket to the University   Interscholastic League Cross Country State Championships for the   second consecutive year; and          WHEREAS, On November 2, Mr. Romero matched up against the   state's other top 5A competitors at Old Settlers Park in   Round Rock; he delivered a stellar showing, crossing the line in   15:52.9 to claim seventh place; over the course of the year, he   benefited from the able guidance of his coach, Kenny Lucero; and          WHEREAS, Demonstrating exceptional perseverance and   sportsmanship as well as an unwavering commitment to excellence,   Diego Romero has become a source of great pride for his school and   community, and his success as a member of the Trailblazer cross   country team truly merits special recognition; now, therefore, be   it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby congratulate Diego Romero on his   accomplishments as a member of the Americas High School cross   country team and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future;   and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for Mr. Romero as an expression of high regard by the Texas   House of Representatives.     González of El Paso     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
