      H.R. No. 1148       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, For more than four decades, El Paso Desert ADAPT has   played an instrumental role in advancing the rights of people with   disabilities; and          WHEREAS, An affiliate of ADAPT of Texas and National ADAPT,   El Paso Desert ADAPT is a grassroots organization of activists and   volunteers who work to improve the lives of individuals with   disabilities; the group champions disability rights, promotes   accessibility, and works to dismantle obstacles to equality and   inclusion; and          WHEREAS, El Paso Desert ADAPT has fought against   institutional, architectural, and communication hurdles that have   prevented people with disabilities from participating in their   communities, and it advocates for policies and laws that ensure   freedom and independence for all; over the years, the organization   has helped to secure full access to transit systems such as Sun   Metro, and it has supported initiatives to construct more sidewalks   with curb cuts; and          WHEREAS, Since its inception, El Paso Desert ADAPT has made a   meaningful difference in the lives of countless Texans with   disabilities, and the organization is to be commended for its many   achievements; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby honor El Paso Desert ADAPT for its more than four   decades of service in support of disability rights and extend to the   organization's leadership and members sincere best wishes for   continued success in their important work; and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for El Paso Desert ADAPT as an expression of high regard by   the Texas House of Representatives.     González of El Paso     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
