HR1145 - In memory of Jack Edward Worthington Jr. of Corpus Christi.

      H.R. No. 1145       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to   a close with the passing of Jack Edward Worthington Jr. of Corpus   Christi on March 31, 2025, at the age of 72; and          WHEREAS, Jack Worthington was born in Fort Meade, Maryland,   on July 5, 1952, to Jack and Adelaide Worthington, and he grew up   with four siblings, Edward, Richard, George, and Dorothy; and          WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty,   Mr. Worthington served as a paratrooper with the U.S. Army 82nd   Airborne Division, and he subsequently distinguished himself as a   civilian materials engineer for the Army and the Air Force for more   than four decades; in 2006, he joined the Corpus Christi Army Depot   Materials Process Engineering Division, where he led inspections   and complex failure analyses in support of Army aviation accident   investigations, helping to ensure the safety of U.S. troops and   mission success; moreover, he transformed the depot's   nondestructive testing program, oversaw the planning of new shops   and facility expansions, briefed senior leaders and dignitaries,   and mentored fellow engineers; his numerous accolades included the   2015 Department of the Army Civilian Service Achievement Medal; and          WHEREAS, Mr. Worthington shared an enduring bond with his   partner of 25 years, Yvonne Buchanan; he took tremendous pride in   their sons, Jack, Jacob, Gregory, and Matthew, and he welcomed six   grandchildren and a great-grandchild into his family; admired for   his humility and integrity, he was also a masterful storyteller,   and he brought joy and laughter to everyone around him; and          WHEREAS, While the death of Jack Worthington brings great   sadness to his family and friends, he leaves behind a legacy of   service that will long be treasured by those who held him dear; now,   therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jack Edward   Worthington Jr. and extend heartfelt condolences to the members of   his family: to his sister, Dorothy E. Harrison; to the mother of his   children and his partner, Yvonne Buchanan; to his children, Jack   Worthington III and Jacob, Gregory, and Matthew Worthington; to his   daughters-in-law, Sarah Pahl Worthington and Jessica   Reyna-Worthington; to his grandchildren, Tiana Rodriguez, Giselle   Garibay, and Amelia, Emanuel, Emma, and Isabel Worthington; to his   great-grandchild, Victor Rodriguez; to his lifelong best friends,   James Saenz and Ernesto Esparza; and to all others who mourn his   passing; and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of   Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jack   Worthington.     González of El Paso     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
