HR1114 - In memory of Dr. Carol Ann Halliday Bonds of San Angelo.

      H.R. No. 1114       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to   a close with the passing of Carol Ann Halliday Bonds of San Angelo   on March 8, 2025, at the age of 77; and          WHEREAS, The daughter of William Barham "W. B." and Katherine   Louella Walker Halliday, the former Carol Ann Halliday was born on   September 28, 1947, in Jackson, Mississippi, and she grew up with   the companionship of two younger siblings, Warren and Mary; after   graduating from Murrah High School in 1965, she attended Houston   Baptist College, earning degrees in English and education; and          WHEREAS, While at HBC, Dr. Bonds met her future husband,   Charles G. Bonds, and they exchanged wedding vows on October 12,   1968; the couple went on to share a rewarding marriage that spanned   more than 56 years, and they became the proud parents of two   children, Paula and Craig; their treasured family later grew to   include four granddaughters, Megan, Allison, Carly, and Macy; and          WHEREAS, A lifelong educator, Dr. Bonds began her career as   an elementary school teacher, writing instructor, and principal   before earning her master's degree from the University of Mary   Hardin-Baylor and her doctorate from The University of Texas at   Austin; she went on to become the superintendent of the Rogers,   Livingston, and San Angelo Independent School Districts, and in   those roles she received numerous honors, including the Robert Wood   Johnson Community Health Leader Award from the Harris   Institute/Foundation, the Region 15 Superintendent of the Year   Award from the Texas Association of School Boards, and the Citizen   of the Year Award from the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce; along the   way, she wrote an innovative teacher's guide, Show Me the Way , and   helped establish what was thought to be the first school-based   health center of its kind in the state; and          WHEREAS, A leader at the state and national levels, Dr. Bonds   was a member of the legislative council of the University   Interscholastic League, the Texas Military Preparedness   Commission, and the U.S. Air Force Air Education and Training   Command Civic Leader Program; in addition, she benefited her local   community by volunteering with the Neighbors Café ministry at First   Baptist Church San Angelo and Goodfellow Air Force Base; and          WHEREAS, Although Carol Ann Bonds will be deeply missed,   memories of her generosity, optimism, and passion for learning   remain to comfort and inspire those she leaves behind; now,   therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Carol Ann Halliday   Bonds and extend sincere condolences to her many relatives and   friends; and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of   Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Carol Ann   Bonds.     Darby     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
