HR1002 - Congratulating Father Dennis Aréchiga on his receipt of the St. John Vianney Award.

      H.R. No. 1002       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Father Dennis Aréchiga was presented with the   St. John Vianney Award at the 23rd annual Catholic Theological   Society of America Leadership Luncheon in San Antonio on April 30,   2025; and          WHEREAS, The pastor of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic   Church in San Antonio, Father Aréchiga will celebrate the 25th   anniversary of his priestly ordination on May 28, 2025; he was   installed at St. Mark the Evangelist on August 20, 2022; and          WHEREAS, In 1985, Father Aréchiga earned his bachelor's   degree in music from the University of Notre Dame, where he was a   member of the Congregation of Holy Cross; he then entered the   order's novitiate in Colorado Springs and pursued graduate studies   at the Santa Clara University Jesuit School of Theology in   Berkeley, California; he went on to teach for eight years at Holy   Cross High School and St. Cecilia Elementary School, as well as at   Burnet Elementary in the San Antonio Independent School District;   and          WHEREAS, Continuing his spiritual journey, Father Aréchiga   earned his master of divinity degree at the Oblate School of   Theology, and he spent a brief time in the Holy Cross Southern   Province; he subsequently joined the diocesan priesthood, working   at St. John the Evangelist Parish before entering Assumption   Seminary in 1998; following a stint at San Fernando Cathedral, he   became pastor of St. Monica Parish in Converse; in 2010, he was   appointed pastor of St. Matthew's Parish in San Antonio; and          WHEREAS, Over the course of a quarter century, Dennis   Aréchiga has demonstrated a wholehearted commitment to his   parishioners and to the wider community, and his faith and his many   good works have been a source of profound inspiration to all; now,   therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby congratulate Father Dennis Aréchiga on his   receipt of the St. John Vianney Award and extend to him sincere best   wishes for the future; and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for Father Aréchiga as an expression of high regard by the   Texas House of Representatives.     Lujan     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
