To amend title V of the Public Health Service Act to direct
the Center for Mental Health Services to develop and
disseminate a strategy to address the effects of new
technologies on children’s mental health.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Protecting Young
4
Minds Online Act’’.

Section 520(b) of the Public Health Service Act (42
4
U.S.C. 290bb–31(b)) is amended—
5
(1) in paragraph (16), by striking ‘‘and’’ at the
6
end;
7
(2) in paragraph (17), by striking the period at
8
the end and inserting ‘‘; and’’; and
9
(3) by adding at the end the following:
10
‘‘(18) develop and implement a strategy to help
11
local communities address the effects of new tech-
12
nologies, such as social media, on children’s mental
13
health.’’.
