HR914 - In memory of Dale Susan Eastman of Houston.

      H.R. No. 914       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Dale Susan Eastman of Houston, a staunch advocate   for breast cancer patients, passed away on April 16, 2025, at the   age of 84; and          WHEREAS, Born on February 15, 1941, Dale Eastman was 49 years   old when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer, an experience   that drove her to dedicate the rest of her life to supporting all   those affected by the disease; in 1992, she partnered with three   other breast cancer survivors to found the Alamo Breast Cancer   Foundation; under her able leadership, the organization saw   significant growth, offering screening and financial assistance, a   resource helpline, educational programs, and research funding, as   well as conducting legislative advocacy work; the foundation joined   the board of the National Breast Cancer Coalition as a member   organization in 1994; and          WHEREAS, Mrs. Eastman was deeply involved in NBCC, where she   served on the board of directors for two decades; in 1997, she   became a Texas field coordinator and began managing the Texas   Action Network, and in 2003, she was one of the first to be invited   to join the organization's network of team leaders; in addition,   she served as chair of advocacy and government relations for the   Alamo group, and she represented NBCC at the White House; and          WHEREAS, A champion for breast cancer awareness,   Mrs. Eastman helped to establish the Patient Advocate Program at   the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium, ensuring that trained   activists were involved in one of the most important gatherings of   breast cancer researchers; she also worked directly with lawmakers   at the state and federal levels to expand access to medical services   and to alleviate health care costs for patients; her numerous other   affiliations included the advisory board of the National Institute   of Environmental Health Sciences, the Breast Cancer and the   Environment Working Group, and the National Institutes of Health   Collaborative Summit on Breast Cancer Research; and          WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Eastman enjoyed the love   and support of her husband, Dr. Harry Eastman, with whom she shared   a rewarding marriage that spanned nearly six decades; she took   great pride in their three children, Andy, Brad, and Robin, and over   the years, she had the pleasure of welcoming into her family five   grandchildren; and          WHEREAS, Dale Eastman impacted countless lives through her   efforts in behalf of individuals with breast cancer, and her   integrity, determination, and compassion will remain a lasting   source of inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know her;   now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Dale Susan Eastman   and extend heartfelt sympathy to her family and many friends; and,   be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of   Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dale   Eastman.     Johnson     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
