      H.R. No. 840       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Marely Rodriguez of South San Antonio High School   earned a gold medal at the 2025 Region 20E High School Visual Art   Scholastic Event on February 22, qualifying her for the state   competition; and          WHEREAS, Founded in 1994, VASE is a Texas Art Education   Association-sponsored contest that recognizes exemplary student   achievement in the visual arts; each participant creates a piece,   writes about their process in making it, and completes an interview   with a VASE juror, who evaluates their entry using a   standards-based rubric; and          WHEREAS, Inspired by recent events in her personal life,   Ms. Rodriguez created the mixed-media sculpture Not Coming Back ,   which focuses on the depiction of core memories she shares with her   older sister; in addition to her achievements at VASE, she was a   winner of the 2023 South San Antonio Independent School District   Holiday Card Contest, with her design becoming the official artwork   for the district's greeting postcard; and          WHEREAS, This gifted young Texan has demonstrated   outstanding talent, creativity, and dedication to her craft, and   she may indeed take great pride in her exceptional showing in the   VASE competition; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby congratulate Marely Rodriguez on earning a gold   medal at the 2025 Region 20E High School Visual Art Scholastic Event   and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it   further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for Ms. Rodriguez as an expression of high regard by the   Texas House of Representatives.     Lujan     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
