HR838 - In memory of U.S. Army Specialist Joey Martens Lenz.

      H.R. No. 838       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, The untimely passing of U.S. Army Specialist Joey   Martens Lenz on February 1, 2022, at the age of 32, brought an   incalculable loss to his family, his friends, and his community;   and          WHEREAS, Born in Baytown on November 16, 1989, Joey Lenz was   the son of Margie Martens Taylor and Ted Lenz; he grew up with the   companionship of two older brothers, Timothy and Cody, and a   stepsister, Jamie, and he attended schools in Willis, where he made   many lifelong friends among his classmates; and          WHEREAS, After graduating from Willis High School in 2008,   Mr. Lenz worked on Lake Conroe as an employee of TowBoatUS for a   number of years, during which time his duties included performing   repairs and rescuing stranded boaters; he held several other jobs   around the county before he answered his nation's call to duty and   enlisted in the United States Army on September 18, 2017; and          WHEREAS, Mr. Lenz went on to complete basic combat training   at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and advanced individual training   as a generator mechanic at Fort Lee, Virginia; he was stationed in   the Republic of Korea as a tactical power generator specialist from   October 2019 to February 2020, and the many accolades he received   included the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Defense Service   Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Service Ribbon; and          WHEREAS, Following the tragic passing of Specialist Joey   Lenz, a congressional bill known as the Specialist Joey Lenz Act of   2024 and reintroduced as the Specialist Joey Lenz Act of 2025 has   been proposed, which would require more comprehensive health   evaluations to better identify preexisting medical conditions in   service members; and          WHEREAS, Specialist Joey Lenz was an exemplary soldier, a   loving son, and a young man whose kind and caring nature enriched   the lives of everyone around him, and he will forever hold a   treasured place in the hearts of those he left behind; now,   therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of U.S. Army   Specialist Joey Martens Lenz and extend profound sympathy to his   family and friends; and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of   Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Specialist   Joey Lenz.     Toth     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
