HR809 - In memory of Helen Asimakis Yampanis of Dallas.

      H.R. No. 809       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and   meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends   of Helen Asimakis Yampanis of Dallas, who passed away on June 5,   2024, at the age of 98; and          WHEREAS, Born on October 12, 1925, to Stella and Charles   Asimakis, the former Helen Asimakis grew up in South Dallas with the   companionship of her siblings, Harry, Louis, Pyra, Mary, and Angel;   she went on to meet her future husband, Paul Yampanis, on a blind   date, and the couple exchanged wedding vows just three months later   on September 10, 1954; together, they raised a daughter, Tina, with   whom Mrs. Yampanis shared a close bond; her cherished family   further included her adoptive son, Don Bubba Burris, and her many   nieces and nephews; and          WHEREAS, Warmhearted and gregarious, Mrs. Yampanis endeared   herself readily to her colleagues at Neiman Marcus, who were like a   second family to her; she worked in several departments at the   company for a total of 58 years; she was also beloved by her fellow   churchgoers, including those at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church,   her final congregation; and          WHEREAS, As a devout member of the Greek Orthodox Church,   Mrs. Yampanis served in the Daughters of Penelope and the Greek   Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society, which she led as president;   she was also a member of the committee that organized the first   Greek Pastry Sale Luncheon & Fashion Show, which evolved into a food   festival that is still running today; blessed with culinary gifts   of her own, she served as its pastry co-chair for many years,   preparing beautiful and delicious Greek dishes and pastries with   great care and attention; in addition to these endeavors, she was an   engaged member of Richardson Republican Women; and          WHEREAS, Helen Yampanis brightened the world around her with   her kindness, her generosity of spirit, and her unconditional love,   and she will forever be remembered with deep affection by all who   knew her; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Helen Asimakis   Yampanis and extend sincere sympathy to her family and many   friends; and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of   Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Helen   Yampanis.     Meyer     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
