      H.R. No. 694       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, The 90th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed   cause for celebration, and Jerry Lou Haddock of Houston is marking   this significant milestone in her life on April 4, 2025; and          WHEREAS, Born in 1935 to Ellen Brice and Major Regis Brice in   Washington, Pennsylvania, the former Jerry Lou Brice grew up as the   oldest of five children; after World War II, her father's military   career took the family to Long Island, New York, Alaska, and Ohio;   she met the love of her life, Robert Haddock, when they became   next-door neighbors at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base; three   months later, as her family was preparing to move to France, the   couple eloped to Florida, where they married on September 6, 1956;   and          WHEREAS, In Florida, Mrs. Haddock founded a Girl Scout troop,   and she volunteered with the Brevard Hospital Guild; as a member of   the Brevard Junior League, she and her best friend established the   Castaways Resale shop to support the organization's good works; and          WHEREAS, Following their move to Houston, Mrs. Haddock   supported her husband for many years in his work as a precinct   chair, taking charge of snacks; as a lifelong Republican, she has   voted in countless elections since the Eisenhower administration,   and she enjoys following politics; and          WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Haddock shared a fulfilling marriage of   more than five decades until his passing in 2011; devoted to her   family, Mrs. Haddock takes great pride in her three children, her   nine grandchildren, and her great-grandson, and she delights in   preparing for holiday gatherings with her loved ones; and          WHEREAS, Meeting life's challenges with resilience,   optimism, and determination, Jerry Lou Haddock holds a special   place in the hearts of her family and friends, and she is a   continuing source of inspiration to all who are fortunate enough to   know her; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby congratulate Jerry Lou Haddock on the joyous   occasion of her 90th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes   for continued happiness; and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for Mrs. Haddock as an expression of high regard by the   Texas House of Representatives.     Gerdes     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
