HR660 - In memory of Lana Kay Andrews of Dallas.

      H.R. No. 660       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the   passing of Lana Kay Andrews of Dallas on March 16, 2025, at the age   of 78; and          WHEREAS, The daughter of Patty and Milton Fischer, the former   Lana Fischer was born on July 17, 1946, and raised in Corpus   Christi; she graduated from Carroll High School and Southwest Texas   State University; she shared a fulfilling marriage with her high   school sweetheart, Barry Andrews, that spanned 56 years until his   passing in 2023, and they became the proud parents of two children,   Natalie and Blake; later, Mrs. Andrews knew the joy of becoming   "LaLa" to four treasured grandchildren, Madison, Sophie, Curran,   and Bain; and          WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Andrews established Andrews   Distributing in Corpus Christi in 1976; as the company grew, they   became increasingly involved in philanthropy, and they continued   their charitable and civic endeavors following their move to Dallas   in 1994; longtime benefactors of the American Cancer Society, they   underwrote the annual MD Anderson Cancer Center A Conversation with   a Living Legend luncheon, which has raised millions of dollars for   cancer research, and their company backed hundreds of other   community events every year; they also supported another major   fundraiser, the Cattle Baron's Ball, hosting it eight times at   their South Texas ranch and their distribution center; and          WHEREAS, Deeply committed to her community, Mrs. Andrews   served as co-chair of the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women's Health   National Advisory Board; she was a valued member of The Crystal   Charity Ball, and her many contributions were recognized with her   induction into its hall of fame; in addition, she was involved in   the Vital Mind organization and worked in behalf of cardiology   research at UT Southwestern Medical Center through her work with   the Sweetheart Ball committee; and          WHEREAS, Mrs. Andrews was a wonderful hostess and delighted   in entertaining; she enjoyed her Monday card group and vacations in   La Jolla, California, and she never missed a Cowboys or Mavericks   home game; a woman of faith, she was an active congregant of   Highland Park United Methodist Church; and          WHEREAS, Warm, kind, and caring, Lana Andrews brightened the   world for all who knew her, and they will forever hold her close in   their hearts; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Lana Kay Andrews and   extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her   children, Natalie McGuire and her husband, Mike, and Blake Andrews   and his wife, Tricia; to her grandchildren, Madison and Sophie   McGuire and Curran and Bain Andrews; and to her other relatives and   friends; and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of   Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lana Kay   Andrews.     Meyer     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
