  89R20254 BK-D     By: Bhojani H.R. No. 641       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Members of the Shia Ismaili Muslim community,   commonly known as Ismailis, are visiting the State Capitol on April   15, 2025; and          WHEREAS, The Ismailis belong to the Shia interpretation of   Islam, numbering as many as 15 million in more than 35 countries   around the world; and          WHEREAS, The Ismailis have been guided by a hereditary imam   throughout a history that spans 1,400 years; today, the Ismailis   are guided by their spiritual leader, His Highness Prince Rahim Aga   Khan V, the 50th imam and a direct descendant of the Prophet   Muhammad through his daughter, Hazrat Bibi Fatima, and his cousin   and son-in-law, Hazrat Ali, the fourth rightly guided caliph of   Islam and the first Shia imam; and          WHEREAS, Prince Rahim Aga Khan's leadership builds upon the   foundations laid by his father, Aga Khan IV, furthering the   community's engagement with global issues such as economic   inequality, education, health care, and environmental   sustainability; and          WHEREAS, The Aga Khan Development Network has established   schools, hospitals, health centers, housing organizations, and a   variety of social and economic development institutions around the   world; these efforts are undertaken for the common good of all   people, regardless of race or religion; and          WHEREAS, Ismailis the world over are committed to responsible   citizenship, embracing pluralism, and building bridges of peace and   understanding; the AKDN's work is deeply intertwined with the   Ismaili community's ethos of service; and          WHEREAS, Members of the Ismaili community in Texas express   their faith by giving generously of their time, knowledge, and   resources to improve the lives of others, and it is indeed fitting   to recognize their contributions; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby recognize April 15, 2025, as Ismaili Day at the   State Capitol and extend to the visiting delegation sincere best   wishes for a memorable and enjoyable experience in Austin.
