      H.R. No. 549       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, The nonprofit organization Small Places is hosting   its third annual Salsa de Mayo Festival in Houston on May 10, 2025;   and          WHEREAS, Founded in 2014 by brothers Daniel, Mark, and Thomas   Garcia-Prats, Small Places works to combat systemic inequities and   foster community health and sustainability by developing farms on   underutilized land in urban areas; based in Houston's Second Ward,   the organization focuses on neighborhood food production and   distribution, education, and farmer training; and          WHEREAS, In its first year at the newly opened Finca Tres   Robles farm, the Salsa de Mayo Festival celebrates Houston's tomato   harvest, and it will feature a salsa competition as well as other   food, games, and art; it will also be accompanied by the   organization's Spring Harvest Farm Dinner, which celebrates the   culinary traditions of Houston and its East End neighborhoods; and          WHEREAS, The Salsa de Mayo Festival has become a beloved   community event, and it promises to be an enjoyable occasion for all   those in attendance; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby commemorate the third annual Salsa de Mayo   Festival in Houston and extend to its organizers sincere best   wishes for a successful event.     Hernandez     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
