HR453 - Recognizing April 29, 2025, as Jack County Day at the State Capitol.

      H.R. No. 453       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Proud residents of Jack County are gathering in   Austin on April 29, 2025, in celebration of Jack County Day at the   State Capitol; and          WHEREAS, Situated in the Cross Timbers and Prairies   ecological region of North Central Texas, this area was originally   inhabited by the Caddo and Comanche tribes; in 1856, the county was   created and named for William H. and Patrick C. Jack, who were   participants in the Texas Revolution; after federal troops withdrew   from the region during the Civil War, Indian raids caused the   population to decline; in response, the U.S. Army established Fort   Richardson in 1867 to protect pioneers, and it was active until   1878, when the threat of attacks had ultimately subsided; by 1880,   the population had grown to more than 6,600 people, over 10 times   what it had been a decade prior; and          WHEREAS, In its early years, the county's economy was driven   by farming and cattle ranching, with corn, grain, and cotton being   key crops; the arrival of the Chicago, Rock Island and Texas Railway   in 1898 brought additional growth to the area and connected it more   directly with outside markets; following the discovery of oil in   the 1920s, petroleum production became a significant part of life   in the region; and          WHEREAS, Today, Jack County is home to more than 8,800   people, and its economy benefits from the oil and gas, health care,   construction, and retail industries; notable communities include   the county seat of Jacksboro as well as Bryson, Perrin, and Jermyn;   residents and visitors alike enjoy recreational opportunities   afforded by Lakes Jacksboro and Bridgeport, and outdoor enthusiasts   are drawn to the region for activities such as fishing and hunting;   the county also hosts a number of annual events, among them the   Chili Fest and the Main Street Classic Car Show, and other   attractions include Fort Richardson State Park and the Jack County   Museum; and          WHEREAS, Honoring their heritage as they embrace the   opportunities of the future, the citizens of Jack County may take   great pride in the role their communities have played in the story   of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby recognize April 29, 2025, as Jack County Day at   the State Capitol and extend a warm welcome to the visiting   delegation.     Spiller     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
