      H.R. No. 446       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, The Teen and Police Service Academy of Houston is   making a positive difference in the lives of young citizens; and          WHEREAS, Dedicated to reducing the social distance between   youth and law enforcement personnel, TAPS Academy promotes   interaction and discussion between teenagers and police mentors;   and          WHEREAS, Student participants enhance their decision-making   skills and earn course credit during the 17-week TAPS Academy   program, which addresses a variety of important topics, including   conflict resolution, truancy, drugs and alcohol, and crime   prevention; moreover, the organization offers several other   initiatives, including the Texas Education Agency-accredited   TEENPOL program, TAPS Ambassadors, the Summer Youth Leadership   Institute, and the Texas Traffic Stop Training course; and          WHEREAS, By encouraging understanding between young people   and law enforcement professionals, the TAPS Academy of Houston is   helping to shape a brighter future for area residents, and it is   indeed deserving of recognition for its efforts; now, therefore, be   it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby commend the Teen and Police Service Academy of   Houston for its contributions to the community and extend to all   involved with the organization sincere best wishes for the future;   and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for TAPS Academy of Houston as an expression of high regard   by the Texas House of Representatives.     Simmons     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
