      H.R. No. 400       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Proud citizens of University Park celebrated the   100th anniversary of the incorporation of their city on April 12,   2024; and          WHEREAS, Located five miles north of downtown Dallas,   University Park began as a cluster of homes surrounding Southern   Methodist University, which was founded in 1911 and offered its   first classes in 1915; the residences were originally built to   house the teachers and staff of the university, but by 1924, the   area was home to more than 1,200 people, and SMU could no longer   afford to supply water and sewer lines to the growing community;   University Park was officially incorporated on April 12, 1924; and          WHEREAS, Over the ensuing decades, University Park   experienced significant development and population growth, and   today, the community boasts more than 25,000 residents and is one of   the Metroplex's most desirable neighborhoods; known for its   attractive homes, beautiful parks, and numerous churches, the area   benefits from its proximity to a wide range of cultural,   recreational, and business activities; in addition to being one of   the most affluent communities in the nation, the city is also home   to one of its most highly educated populations; and          WHEREAS, Celebrating their rich history as they work to build   an even brighter future, the citizens of University Park are   justifiably proud of their community, and it is indeed fitting to   recognize the city's contributions to the Lone Star State; now,   therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of the   incorporation of University Park and extend to its residents   sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for the city as an expression of high regard by the Texas   House of Representatives.     Meyer     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
