      H.R. No. 378       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, The observance of YMCA Texas Youth and Government   Day at the State Capitol on February 27, 2025, offers a welcome   opportunity to honor this noteworthy program as it celebrates its   79th anniversary; and          WHEREAS, Each year, the YMCA and its extensive programs   benefit more than one million Texans of all ages and abilities; in   addition, over 40,000 youths in the state annually participate in   the YMCA's after-school enrichment programs, summer camps,   developmental sports programming, teen centers, and overnight   camps; and          WHEREAS, Established in 1946, the YMCA Texas Youth and   Government program promotes civic engagement by providing middle   and high school students with the opportunity to learn more about   state government; participants attend conferences at the State   Capitol, where they act as members of a model government, including   as leaders in the executive and legislative branches, as attorneys   and judges in appellate court cases, as members of the news media,   and as lobbyists; and          WHEREAS, YMCA Texas Youth and Government has helped shape   generations of leaders in the Lone Star State, and the   organization's invaluable contributions are indeed worthy of   recognition on this special occasion; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby recognize February 27, 2025, as YMCA Texas Youth   and Government Day at the State Capitol and extend to all those   affiliated with the program sincere best wishes for the future.     Landgraf     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
