      H.R. No. 366       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Proud residents of Grand Prairie are gathering in   Austin on February 26, 2025, to celebrate Grand Prairie Day at the   State Capitol; and          WHEREAS, Located in the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth   Metroplex, Grand Prairie traces its history to 1863, when Alexander   M. Dechman, an early settler to the area, filed title on his land   with Dallas County; following the arrival of the Texas and Pacific   Railroad in 1876, the area known as Dechman was renamed Grand   Prairie in recognition of its location on the eastern edge of the   vast prairie that stretches into West Texas; the community was   officially incorporated in 1909; and          WHEREAS, Today, Grand Prairie is home to a diverse population   of more than 204,000 citizens, and it has built a reputation as a   hub of innovation, industry, and education; the city offers a   variety of opportunities for recreation and entertainment,   including the world-renowned Lone Star Park, Epic Waters Indoor   Waterpark, and the Texas Trust CU Theatre, and it has demonstrated a   steadfast commitment to arts, culture, and community engagement   with venues such as the Grand Prairie Historical Museum; in   addition, the city's schools, health care facilities, and public   services reflect its dedication to providing high-quality   resources for its residents; and          WHEREAS, The Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce works to   foster growth and prosperity through strategic investment in   infrastructure, transportation, and sustainable development, and   it has helped to make the city an attractive destination for   businesses and residents alike; and          WHEREAS, Celebrating their rich history as they work together   to build an even brighter future, the citizens of Grand Prairie may   take justifiable pride in the important role their community   continues to play in the story of the Lone Star State; now,   therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby recognize February 26, 2025, as Grand Prairie   Day at the State Capitol and extend a warm welcome to the visiting   delegation.     Turner   González of Dallas   Bhojani   Y.
