HR356 - In memory of Jennifer Joy Mattingly of Round Rock.

      H.R. No. 356       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their   memories of Jennifer Joy Mattingly of Round Rock, who passed away on   August 31, 2024, at the age of 66; and          WHEREAS, The daughter of Dr. Joan Kitson Mattingly and Joseph   Francis Mattingly, Jennifer Mattingly was born in Louisville,   Kentucky, on June 7, 1958, and she grew up with the companionship of   two sisters, Janlyn and Jonna; after graduating early from   Wilbraham & Monson Academy in Massachusetts, she attended The   University of Texas at Austin and earned her bachelor's degree in   1979 and her law degree in 1982; and          WHEREAS, Ms. Mattingly started her own practice in northwest   Austin in 1983, and she specialized in estate law, business   formation, landlord/tenant law, real estate and leases, elder care,   and general contracts; active in her community, she served as   Williamson County Precinct 1 justice of the peace from 1988 to 1990,   and she became involved in the City of Hutto Planning and Zoning   Commission in 1991 and was chair from 2000 to 2004; and          WHEREAS, Ms. Mattingly was a lifelong supporter of the   Democratic Party and a staunch advocate for civil rights, equality,   justice, and women's rights; she held leadership positions within   numerous organizations, including the Williamson County Democratic   Party, which she served as county chair and precinct 482 chair; in   addition, she was among the honored guests at President Bill   Clinton's 1993 inauguration as a Texas delegate, and she most   recently was a delegate to the 2024 Texas Democratic Convention;   and          WHEREAS, In all of her endeavors, Ms. Mattingly benefited   from the love and support of her husband, Craig Matthews, with whom   she shared a fulfilling relationship that spanned more than two and   a half decades, and her life was further enriched by her nephews,   Max, Jeremy, Kitson, and Jack, and her great-niece, Julianna; in   her leisure time, she enjoyed writing short stories, screenplays,   novels, and songs, as well as painting, bird-watching, and spending   time outdoors; and          WHEREAS, While the death of Jennifer Mattingly brings great   sadness to her family and friends, she leaves behind a legacy that   will long be treasured by all those who held her dear; now,   therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jennifer Joy   Mattingly and extend sincere condolences to her loved ones; and, be   it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of   Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jennifer   Mattingly.     Bucy     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
