HR355 - In memory of William Everett Brannon Jr. of Sulphur Springs.

      H.R. No. 355       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, The life of a respected figure in the Texas   Democratic Party drew to a close with the passing of William Everett   Brannon Jr. of Sulphur Springs on December 7, 2024, at the age of   75; and          WHEREAS, Born in Birmingham, Alabama, on October 20, 1949,   Bill Brannon was the son of William Everett Brannon and Mary   DuQuesnay Brannon; after graduating from high school in St. Louis,   Missouri, he earned a degree in political science and history from   North Texas State University, where he discovered his passion for   politics and its potential to create positive change; and          WHEREAS, Mr. Brannon's involvement in civic affairs and   public service spanned more than 40 years; he excelled in such   leadership roles as executive director, senior advisor,   redistricting director, and rural coordinator for the Texas   Democratic Party, and he was a consultant in over 150 campaigns; at   the local level, he served as chair of the Hopkins County Democratic   Party and twice ran for a seat in the Texas House of   Representatives; and          WHEREAS, Mr. Brannon also worked as a staff member for   elected Democrats at both the state and federal levels, including   as a legislative liaison for Governor Ann Richards, district   director for U.S. Congressmen Max Sandlin and Jim Chapman, and   consultant for State Representatives Mark Homer and Barry Telford   and State Senator Richard M. Anderson; in all his endeavors, he   enjoyed the love and support of his wife, Vali Walker Brannon, and   he took great pride in his children and grandchildren; and          WHEREAS, Renowned for his expertise and commitment as well as   his generosity and sense of humor, Bill Brannon mentored and   inspired several generations of Texas Democrats, and his influence   will continue to be felt in the years ahead; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of William Everett   Brannon Jr. and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his   family: to his wife, Vali Walker Brannon; to his sons, Adam King and   his wife, Kim, Blake Rhodes and his wife, Ashley, and Patrick Rhodes   and his wife, Sally; to his sister, Lynn Golden; to his niece,   Brenda Boyd; to his grandchildren, Holton, Weston, Grayson, Smith,   Bennett, and Kohen; and to his other relatives and many friends;   and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of   Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bill   Brannon.     Bucy     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
