      H.R. No. 284       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Audubon Texas Day is taking place on February 19,   2025, at the State Capitol in celebration of the 120th anniversary   of the National Audubon Society; and          WHEREAS, The state office of the National Audubon Society,   Audubon Texas is dedicated to the conservation of birds, wildlife,   and their habitats across the Lone Star State; Texas is home to more   than 579 bird species, making it one of the most ecologically   significant states for avian biodiversity; in addition to   protecting these species, Audubon Texas bolsters the state's   economy through ecotourism, bird-watching, and outdoor recreation,   generating hundreds of millions of dollars annually; and          WHEREAS, Audubon Texas leads innovative conservation efforts   across the state, including a coastal island management program   that dates back to 1923, nature centers in Dallas, Cedar Hill, San   Antonio, and Brownsville, and initiatives that benefit grasslands,   wetlands, and urban environments; and          WHEREAS, This year, the National Audubon Society marks its   120th anniversary, providing an opportunity to celebrate its long   tradition of leadership in bird and habitat conservation across the   country as well as its support of bipartisan policies that further   environmental stewardship at both the state and national levels;   and          WHEREAS, The mission of the National Audubon Society aligns   with the principle that sound conservation policies are crucial to   ensuring the protection of birds, wildlife, and natural resources   for future generations; the work of Audubon Texas exemplifies the   interconnectedness of conservation efforts, demonstrating that   protecting habitats in the state directly contributes to national   environmental resilience; and          WHEREAS, For more than a century, Audubon Texas and the   National Audubon Society have practiced careful stewardship of   coasts, grasslands, urban territory, and bird populations, and   their invaluable work has earned the admiration and appreciation of   people across the state and beyond; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby recognize February 19, 2025, as Audubon Texas   Day at the State Capitol and extend a warm welcome to the visiting   delegation.     Zwiener     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
