HR231 - In memory of Mary Winifred Weingarth Newton.

      H.R. No. 231       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Family and friends were deeply saddened by the   passing of Mary Winifred Weingarth Newton on December 21, 2024, at   the age of 85; and          WHEREAS, The daughter of Frederick Charles Weingarth II and   Agnes Jelinek Weingarth, the former Mary Weingarth was born in   Kansas City, Missouri, on October 20, 1939, and she grew up with the   companionship of a brother, Frederick; after graduating from   Littleton High School in Colorado in 1957, she earned a bachelor's   degree in business education from Colorado State College; and          WHEREAS, While attending college, she met Ronald James   Newton, and the couple married in 1961; she took great pride in her   children, Courtney and Brooke, and over the years, she had the   pleasure of seeing her family grow to include four grandchildren,   Taylor, Grace, Sam, and Hazel; and          WHEREAS, Mrs. Newton enjoyed a rewarding career in   education, teaching at schools in Colorado, California, and   Wyoming; she also cofounded a craft consignment shop and   established a coffee and tea shop, a restaurant, and a mall antiques   booth; a respected business owner for three decades, she taught   entrepreneurship at the Texas A&M University College of Business;   and          WHEREAS, Mrs. Newton served as a board member and recruiter   for the Bryan/College Station Chamber of Commerce, and she further   distinguished herself as alumni advisor and president of the house   corporation board for the Alpha Phi International Fraternity's   Epsilon Omega chapter at A&M; in addition, she was involved in the   Bluebonnet Psychiatric Center, the Boys Clubs of Brazos County, and   the American Red Cross, and she contributed to philanthropic   efforts at East Carolina University; after settling in Coppell in   2017, she joined women's groups at St. Ann Catholic Parish; and          WHEREAS, Admired for her generosity, her outgoing nature, and   her devotion to her family, Mary Newton lived a caring and   purposeful life, and she leaves behind a record of service that her   loved ones can remember with pride; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Mary Winifred   Weingarth Newton and extend heartfelt sympathy to all who mourn her   passing; and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of   Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Mary   Newton.     Garcia Hernandez     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
