HR203 - Honoring the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center for its contributions to rural health care, education, and research.

      H.R. No. 203       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Students, faculty, and staff of the Texas Tech   University Health Sciences Center are convening at the State   Capitol on February 26, 2025, to celebrate the university's legacy   of advancing rural health care, education, and research in Texas;   and          WHEREAS, Established in 1969 as Texas Tech University School   of Medicine, the institution was renamed Texas Tech University   Health Sciences Center in 1979, and it has become a comprehensive   health research institution; throughout its history, it has been a   leader in addressing rural health care challenges across the State   of Texas; and          WHEREAS, TTUHSC remains committed to its foundational   mission of serving the health care needs of the vast West Texas   region, which encompasses 121 counties representing 35 percent of   the state's population and 54 percent of its land mass; the   university continues to expand access to care through innovative   models that benefit communities across Texas; and          WHEREAS, This esteemed institution has graduated more than   42,000 health care professionals, including doctors, nurses,   pharmacists, researchers, and other key practitioners; the   institution is composed of six distinguished schools, the School of   Medicine, the School of Nursing, the School of Health Professions,   the Jerry H.
