      H.R. No. 202       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Proud residents of Tarrant County are gathering in   Austin on February 10 and 11, 2025, to celebrate Tarrant County Days   at the State Capitol; and          WHEREAS, Created in 1849, Tarrant County has a history rooted   in the Old West, having served as the terminus point for cattle   drives during the 19th century; the county was named after General   Edward H. Tarrant, who commanded Republic of Texas militia forces   at the Battle of Village Creek in 1841; and          WHEREAS, Tarrant County has evolved from a frontier community   into a contemporary and cosmopolitan center for business,   education, culture, and tourism; with more than two million people,   it is the third most populous county in Texas; its county seat, Fort   Worth, is the state's fourth-largest city, and other sizeable   communities include Arlington, North Richland Hills, Euless,   Bedford, and Keller; and          WHEREAS, Visitors from across the nation are drawn to such   family-friendly attractions as Six Flags Over Texas and the Fort   Worth Zoo, as well as to sporting events at Globe Life Field,   Choctaw Stadium, and AT&T Stadium, which will host matches for the   2026 FIFA World Cup; the county is also a center for art and   history, with the Kimbell Art Museum, the Modern Art Museum of Fort   Worth, and the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, which enjoy an   international reputation, and the popular Fort Worth Stockyards   National Historical District, which celebrates the city's Western   heritage; and          WHEREAS, Tarrant County is home to The University of Texas at   Arlington, a Tier One university, and The University of Texas at   Arlington Research Institute, which plans to become a global leader   in advanced manufacturing, medical technologies, applied robotics,   and environmental engineering; in Fort Worth, Texas Christian   University continues to build on its long tradition of excellence,   The Texas A&M University System makes further investments in its   downtown campus and School of Law, and the University of North Texas   Health Science Center is dedicated to improving health outcomes and   growing the health care workforce within the county and state,   while Tarrant County College offers residents outstanding and   affordable educational opportunities; moreover, young Texans in   the county are served by the Arlington Independent School District   and the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District, which   together enroll nearly 80,000 students; and          WHEREAS, Tarrant County has a diversified economy and   benefits from the presence of such major employers as American   Airlines, Lockheed Martin, and General Motors; the county's   thriving business community is served by organizations and local   chambers of commerce that work to promote economic growth and   foster a supportive climate for business; and          WHEREAS, The citizens of Tarrant County continue to honor   their rich and colorful history while building an even brighter   future for the generations to come, and it is indeed fitting that   they receive special recognition for their achievements and their   contributions to the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby recognize February 10 and 11, 2025, as Tarrant   County Days at the State Capitol and extend to the visiting   delegation sincere best wishes for a productive and enjoyable stay   in Austin.     Geren     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
