      H.R. No. 195       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Mario K. Castillo is being inaugurated as the fifth   chancellor of Lone Star College on February 14, 2025; and          WHEREAS, The first Latino to hold the post, Mr. Castillo was   appointed chancellor of Lone Star College in August 2023; since   joining the institution in 2015, he has served in a number of   prominent roles, including general counsel, vice chancellor, and   chief operating officer, as well as interim president of   LSC-Kingwood; during his tenure as chancellor, he has worked to   prioritize student success, reshaping policies and procedures and   creating numerous scholarship and internship opportunities;   moreover, he regularly meets with students to offer career advice;   and          WHEREAS, Previously, Mr. Castillo was a partner at Monty &   Ramirez, LLP, where he practiced labor and employment law; he has   litigated cases in state and federal courts, appellate courts, and   the Texas Supreme Court, and he was the briefing attorney for the   Honorable Felix Recio Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the   Southern District of Texas; in addition, his peer-reviewed articles   have been published by Baylor Law School and the University of   Houston Law Center; and          WHEREAS, A first-generation American and the first in his   family to attend college, Mr. Castillo holds a bachelor's degree in   government from The University of Texas at Austin and a juris doctor   degree from Indiana University Bloomington Maurer School of Law;   and          WHEREAS, Under the outstanding stewardship of Mario   Castillo, Lone Star College is poised for continued innovation and   achievement in the years to come, and it is a privilege to join in   honoring him at this time; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby congratulate Mario K. Castillo on his   investiture as chancellor of Lone Star College and extend to him   sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further          RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be   prepared for Mr. Castillo as an expression of high regard by the   Texas House of Representatives.     Walle     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
