      H.R. No. 87       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Citizens of Houston are paying homage to the work of   an admired community leader with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the   opening of the Rabbi Samuel Karff Memorial Bridge on   February 8, 2025; and          WHEREAS, Located over Brays Bayou Greenway, the   634-linear-foot bridge will connect area neighborhoods, parks, and   green spaces; maintained by the Houston Parks Board, the $3 million   project will provide a safe route for pedestrians and cyclists; and          WHEREAS, The bridge is named in honor of the late Rabbi Samuel   Karff, who served as the senior rabbi at Congregation Beth Israel,   the oldest Jewish house of worship in Texas, from 1975 to 1999;   dedicated to fostering understanding and unity, he often worked   across communities and denominations to promote civil rights,   social justice, and equality; and          WHEREAS, Through his leadership and civic engagement, Rabbi   Samuel Karff helped to make his community a more equitable place for   all, and the dedication of this bridge in his honor will serve as a   lasting tribute to his inspiring legacy; now, therefore, be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby commemorate the opening of the Rabbi Samuel   Karff Memorial Bridge and commend all those involved for their   efforts in bringing this project to fruition.     Johnson     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
