HR58 - Recognizing March 2025 as Kidney Month.

      H.R. No. 58       R E S O L U T I O N          WHEREAS, Kidney Month is being observed in March 2025 across   Texas and throughout the United States; and          WHEREAS, Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a significant health   concern affecting individuals nationwide, with millions more at   risk of developing the disease; nine out of ten people with early   kidney disease are unaware of their condition because symptoms   typically do not manifest until its later stages; and          WHEREAS, Chronic kidney disease progresses through five   stages, culminating in end-stage renal disease (ESRD), which   requires treatment through dialysis or a kidney transplant; the   incidence of ESRD has risen substantially in the last two decades;   and          WHEREAS, In the state of Texas alone, more than 76,000   residents are living with kidney failure, and of that group,   approximately 56,000 are undergoing dialysis and over 20,000 have   received kidney transplants; Texans are at an elevated risk of CKD   due to the high prevalence of diabetes and hypertension, and   minority populations also represent a disproportionate number of   those affected; Black Americans are four times more likely than   White Americans to develop kidney failure; and          WHEREAS, Early detection and timely treatment offer the best   hope of slowing the progression of kidney disease, and the   observance of Kidney Month in March provides a fitting opportunity   to call attention to kidney disease and to rally support for   prevention efforts that can potentially save lives; now, therefore,   be it          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas   Legislature hereby recognize March 2025 as Kidney Month and   encourage Texans to learn more about the symptoms and risk factors   for chronic kidney disease.     Oliverson     ______________________________   Speaker of the House                 I certify that H.R.
