To give the Federal Trade Commission authority over certain
tax-exempt organizations.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Combatting Hospital
4
Monopolies Act’’.

Section 4 of the Federal Trade Commission Act (15
4
U.S.C. 44) is amended, in the undesignated paragraph re-
5
lating to the definition of the term ‘‘Corporation’’—
6
(1) by striking ‘‘, and any’’ and inserting ‘‘,
7
any’’; and
8
(2) by inserting before the period at the end the
9
following: ‘‘, and any hospital organization or coop-
10
erative hospital service organization that is described
11
in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of
12
1986 and exempt from taxation under section
13
501(a) of such Code’’.
