MILITARY CYBERSECURITY COOPERATION WITH 1 TAIWAN. 2 (a) REQUIREMENT.—Not later than 180 days after 3 the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of 4 Defense, acting through the Under Secretary of Defense 5 for Policy, in concurrence with the Secretary of State and 6 in coordination with the Commander of the United States 7 Cyber Command and the Commander of the United States 8 Indo-Pacific Command, shall seek to engage the Govern- 9 ment of Taiwan for the purpose of expanding cooperation 10 on military cybersecurity activities. 11 (b) COOPERATION EFFORTS.—In expanding the co- 12 operation of military cybersecurity activities between the 13 Department of Defense and the Government of Taiwan 14 under subsection (a), the Secretary of Defense may carry 15 out efforts to— 16 (1) actively defend military networks, infra- 17 structure, and systems; 18 (2) eradicate malicious cyber activity that has 19 compromised such networks, infrastructure, and sys- 20 tems; 21 (3) leverage United States commercial and mili- 22 tary cybersecurity technology and services to harden 23 and defend such networks, infrastructure, and sys- 24 tems; and 25 VerDate Sep 11 2014 22:10 Apr 26, 2023 Jkt 039200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H2756.IH H2756 kjohnson on DSK79L0C42PROD with BILLS 3 •HR 2756 IH (4) conduct combined cybersecurity training ac- 1 tivities and exercises. 2 (c) BRIEFINGS.— 3 (1) REQUIREMENT.—Not later than 180 days 4 after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Sec- 5 retary of Defense, in coordination with the Secretary 6 of State, shall provide to the appropriate congres- 7 sional committees a briefing on the implementation 8 of this section. 9 (2) CONTENTS.—The briefing under paragraph 10 (1) shall include the following: 11 (A) A description of the feasibility and ad- 12 visability of expanding cooperation on military 13 cybersecurity activities between the Department 14 of Defense and the Government of Taiwan. 15 (B) An identification of any challenges and 16 resources necessary to be addressed so as to ex- 17 pand such cooperation. 18 (C) An overview of efforts undertaken pur- 19 suant to this section. 20 (D) Any other matters the Secretary deter- 21 mines relevant. 22 (d) APPROPRIATE CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES 23 DEFINED.—In this section, the term ‘‘appropriate con- 24 gressional committees’’ means— 25 VerDate Sep 11 2014 22:10 Apr 26, 2023 Jkt 039200 PO 00000 Frm 00003 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H2756.IH H2756 kjohnson on DSK79L0C42PROD with BILLS 4 •HR 2756 IH (1) the Committee on Armed Services and the 1 Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Rep- 2 resentatives; and 3 (2) the Committee on Armed Services and the 4 Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate. 5 Æ VerDate Sep 11 2014 22:10 Apr 26, 2023 Jkt 039200 PO 00000 Frm 00004 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6301 E:\BILLS\H2756.IH H2756 kjohnson on DSK79L0C42PROD with BILLS
