AUTHORIZATION PERIOD FOR EMERGENCY TREAT- 1 MENT IN NON-DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS 2 AFFAIRS MEDICAL FACILITIES. 3 Section 1703(a)(3) of title 38, United States Code, 4 is amended— 5 (1) by striking ‘‘A covered veteran’’ and insert- 6 ing ‘‘(A) Subject to subparagraph (B), a covered 7 veteran’’; and 8 (2) by adding at the end the following new sub- 9 paragraph: 10 ‘‘(B) In the case of an emergency which existed 11 at the time of admission of a covered veteran to a 12 health care provider and as a condition of authoriza- 13 tion under subparagraph (A), the Secretary shall re- 14 quire that, during the 30-day period following such 15 admission, the covered veteran (or an individual act- 16 ing on behalf of the covered veteran) submit to the 17 Secretary notification of the care or services received 18 by the veteran during such admission.’’. 19 Æ VerDate Sep 11 2014 18:17 Nov 18, 2020 Jkt 019200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6301 E:\BILLS\H8710.IH H8710 pamtmann on DSKBC07HB2PROD with BILLS
