Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa- 1 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2 SECTION 1. ADDITIONAL SPACE AND RESOURCES FOR NA- 1 TIONAL COLLECTIONS HELD BY THE SMITH- 2 SONIAN INSTITUTION AND BY THE NATIONAL 3 GALLERY OF ART. 4 (a) IN GENERAL.—Public Law 94–98 (20 U.S.C. 50 5 note; 89 Stat. 480) is amended by adding at the end the 6 following new section: 7 ‘‘SEC. 5. ADDITIONAL SPACE AND RESOURCES FOR NA- 8 TIONAL COLLECTIONS HELD BY THE SMITH- 9 SONIAN INSTITUTION AND BY THE NATIONAL 10 GALLERY OF ART. 11 ‘‘(a) IN GENERAL.—The Board of Regents of the 12 Smithsonian Institution and the Board of Trustees of the 13 National Gallery of Art may plan, design, construct, oper- 14 ate, and use a collections storage space at the museum 15 support facility of the Smithsonian Institution in Suitland, 16 Maryland, to accommodate the care, preservation, con- 17 servation, storage, and study of national collections held 18 in trust by the Smithsonian Institution and the National 19 Gallery of Art. 20 ‘‘(b) AGREEMENTS.—The Board of Regents of the 21 Smithsonian Institution and the Board of Trustees of the 22 National Gallery of Art shall carry out this section in ac- 23 cordance with agreements entered into by their respective 24 institutions which set forth the respective roles, rights, 25 and responsibilities of the Boards under this section, in- 26 VerDate Sep 11 2014 23:14 Oct 31, 2020 Jkt 019200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H8590.IH H8590 pbinns on DSKJLVW7X2PROD with BILLS 3 •HR 8590 IH cluding responsibilities with respect to costs, and their re- 1 spective institutions are hereby authorized to enter into 2 such agreements of any duration or term that the Boards 3 determine necessary to carry out this section. 4 ‘‘(c) AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS.— 5 ‘‘(1) SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION.—There are 6 authorized to be appropriated to the Board of Re- 7 gents of the Smithsonian Institution to carry out 8 this section— 9 ‘‘(A) $4,000,000 for fiscal year 2021; 10 ‘‘(B) $7,600,000 for fiscal year 2022; 11 ‘‘(C) $36,000,000 for fiscal year 2023; 12 ‘‘(D) $37,000,000 for fiscal year 2024; 13 and 14 ‘‘(E) $4,290,000 for fiscal year 2025. 15 ‘‘(2) NATIONAL GALLERY OF ART.—There are 16 authorized to be appropriated to the Board of Trust- 17 ees of the National Gallery of Art to carry out this 18 section— 19 ‘‘(A) $1,510,000 for fiscal year 2021; 20 ‘‘(B) $11,460,000 for fiscal year 2022; 21 ‘‘(C) $14,210,000 for fiscal year 2023; and 22 ‘‘(D) $13,090,000 for fiscal year 2024.’’. 23 (b) CONFORMING AMENDMENT.—Section 3 of Public 24 Law 94–98 (20 U.S.C. 50 note; 89 Stat. 480) is amended 25 VerDate Sep 11 2014 23:14 Oct 31, 2020 Jkt 019200 PO 00000 Frm 00003 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H8590.IH H8590 pbinns on DSKJLVW7X2PROD with BILLS 4 •HR 8590 IH by striking ‘‘(other than section 4)’’ and inserting ‘‘(other 1 than sections 4 and 5)’’. 2 Æ VerDate Sep 11 2014 23:14 Oct 31, 2020 Jkt 019200 PO 00000 Frm 00004 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6301 E:\BILLS\H8590.IH H8590 pbinns on DSKJLVW7X2PROD with BILLS
