To amend the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act
to require training and education to teachers and other
school employees, students, and the community about
how to prevent, recognize, respond to, and report child
sexual abuse in primary and secondary education.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

ATED GRANTS.

Section 105(a) of the Child Abuse Prevention and
3
Treatment Act (42 U.S.C. 5106(a)) is amended by adding
4
at the end the following:

ββ(8) CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE AWARENESS FIELD
6
INITIATED
GRANTS.βThe Secretary may award
7
grants under this subsection to entities, for periods
8
of up to 5 years, in support of field-initiated innova-
9
tion projects that advance, establish, or implement
10
innovative evidence-based or evidence-informed child
11
sexual abuse awareness and prevention programs
12
byβ
13
ββ(A) improving student awareness of child
14
sexual abuse, including how to recognize, pre-
15
vent, and safely report child sexual abuse;
16
ββ(B) training teachers, school employees,
17
and other mandatory reporters and adults who
18
work with children in a professional or volun-
19
teer capacity, including with respect to recog-
20
nizing child sexual abuse and safely reporting
21
child sexual abuse; or
22
ββ(C) providing information to parents and
23
guardians of students about child sexual abuse
24
awareness and prevention, including how to pre-
25
vent, recognize, respond to, and report child
