To amend the Families First Coronavirus Response Act to increase pandemic
EBT benefits for eligible children whose schools are closed to purchase
fruits and vegetables they would have otherwise been able to receive
in schools.

To amend the Families First Coronavirus Response Act to
increase pandemic EBT benefits for eligible children
whose schools are closed to purchase fruits and vegeta-
bles they would have otherwise been able to receive in
schools.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-

tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Fruits and Vegetables
4
for Children During Pandemic Act of 2020’’.

SEC. 2. AMENDMENTS.

Section 1101 of the Families First Coronavirus Re-
2
sponse Act (Public Law 116–127; 7 U.S.C. 2011 note)
3
is amended—
4
(1) in subsection (b) by inserting ‘‘, and the
5
daily equivalent of the monthly rate of $35 for the
6
purchase of fruits and vegetables,’’ after ‘‘days’’;
7
and
8
(2) in subsection (h)—
9
(A) by redesignating subparagraphs (2)
10
and (3) as subparagraphs (3) and (4), respec-
11
tively; and
12
(B) by inserting after paragraph (1) the
13
following:

‘‘(2) FRUITS
AND
VEGETABLES.—The term
15
‘fruits and vegetables’ means fruits and vegetables
16
of the kinds that may be purchased with benefits
17
provided by the State under the special supplemental
18
nutrition program for women, infants, and children
19
in effect under section 17 of the Child Nutrition Act
20
of 1966 (42 U.S.C. 1786).’’.

SEC. 3. EFFECTIVE DATE.

This Act and the amendments made by this Act shall
23
take effect September 4, 2020.
